Sorted is made by Thomas Kackley, founder of iOSDeveloperGuy LLC. Sorted organizes files locally on your Mac. It does not require an account, operate a backend, display ads, or include analytics or tracking SDKs.
Sorted reads filenames, file metadata, and supported document text from folders you select. It uses Apple’s on-device Foundation Models and text recognition to prepare suggestions. Sorted does not upload your files, extracted text, filenames, or suggestions to us or a third-party AI service.
Sorted stores folder permissions, categories, pending filename suggestions, automation settings, and an operation history locally. History records original and destination paths and file metadata so Sorted can find files and safely undo moves. Extracted source text is not saved in the review queue. These records are not sent to us. Local backups may contain app data. Files in folders you already sync through a cloud service remain subject to that service’s settings.
You choose which folders Sorted can access. Automatic filing and scheduled cleanup are off by default. Pause stops background work; Quit stops the app. Cleanup only moves eligible recorded files to Trash; Sorted never empties Trash. Removing Sorted does not undo file moves. Local history is needed for Undo, so preserve it while you need those records.
Apple supplies and manages the on-device model and handles App Store purchases, refunds, and distribution under its own privacy policy. We do not receive your payment card details. Sorted has no subscription or in-app purchases.
If you email us, we receive the information you choose to send and use it to respond to your request. Please avoid sending private documents unless needed for your support question. We may update this policy when Sorted changes. The effective date above identifies this version. Questions can be sent to the same support address.
